From price to finished fence

How it works

Here's what happens at each step and who does what. Online estimates are free, and once you're happy with your estimate you can request a site inspection.

The five steps

  1. 1

    A couple of minutes

    Tell us about your fence

Your address, the material, height, length, gates, any old fence to remove, and anything tricky about the site.

  2. 2

    On screen and by email

    See your estimate

An indicative price worked out from the licensed local fencer's approved rates. It includes GST, names the fencer and is valid for 30 days.

  3. 3

    When you're ready

    Request a site inspection

Once you're happy with your estimate, request a site inspection from your estimate page and we pass your request to the fencer.

  4. 4

    At your property

    The fencer checks the site

The fencer checks the length, the ground, access and anything you weren't sure about, then gives you a final written quote.

  5. 5

    With your fencer

    Your fence goes in

If you go ahead, you contract with the fencer directly. They build the fence and invoice you.

What you'll need

Nothing you can't answer from the backyard. If you're not sure about something, there's an "I don't know" option.

  • Your property address
  • The fence you want, or a rough idea of it
  • Roughly how long the fence is
  • Any gates you need
  • Whether there's an old fence to take away
  • Anything tricky: slope, rock, roots or tight access

What your estimate can look like

Most people see a full price straight away. When something needs a closer look, we tell you what and why.

  • A full estimate

Everything priced, with a total including GST and a list of what could change it at the inspection.

  • A price per metre

If you didn't know the length. You see the rate for your fence, and we help you work out the length.

  • Some items to check

If gates, removal or retaining need a closer look. We price what we can and follow up the rest.

  • The waitlist

If there's no partner fencer in your area yet. No price, and we'll let you know when a fencer starts there.

Who does what

You

  • Tell us about the fence you want
  • Decide whether the price suits
  • Choose whether to go ahead after the inspection

Arclen Fencing

  • Works out your estimate from the fencer's own approved rates
  • Answers your questions and passes your enquiry to the fencer when you request a site inspection
  • Keeps your estimate on record, so everyone works from the same details

Your licensed fencer

  • Inspects your property
  • Provides a final written quote
  • Contracts with you, builds the fence and invoices you directly

How we're paid

The fencer pays us a referral fee on jobs that go ahead. You don't pay us anything, and the estimate is the fencer's own price. Referral disclosure
