Raised timber homes in the older suburbs and newer estates with Colorbond boundaries. Colorbond is popular for privacy and low upkeep in the heat.

Parts of the North Queensland coast are in cyclone wind regions. The fencer builds to the wind rating for your site, which can affect post size and spacing.
Hard, dry ground in the dry season can make digging slower. Tick rock or hard ground if that sounds like your yard.
In Queensland, many residential fences up to 2 m high don't need building approval, but there are exceptions (pool fences, fences that also retain soil, heritage areas and some estates). Check with your council if you're unsure.
Fences between neighbours are covered by Queensland's dividing fences laws. It's worth talking to your neighbour before work starts.
